A friend of mine wanted to give me a 30th birthday present. Very vaguely he stated “I would like to have my friend photographer take some pictures for you for your birthday”. I said “Ok”. I just thought they would be some professional photos of me for my website or something. A few weeks later with the session already paid for, I took a look at Lolos’s website and immediately went into panic mode… “Oh my.
Coming Out" is sometimes a gradual process (like my metamorphosis at the moment), and other times it requires a big bold statement - to self, to the world.
Wow! I am deeply touched by Katherine's courage to go on living, no matter what! Katherine's story is a great example of the kind of curve ball life sometimes throws at us, and how it is possible to mine the loss, grief, despair and turn it into something that pulls us forward into the light and expands us into something fuller, wiser, more beautiful. I am so honored that she trusted me to hold space for her process of self-expression of the woman she is becoming.
Miss Tres is a wonderful example of a woman who courageously chooses joy in her life. She is also a creative soul who draws erotic self-portraits as part of 'claiming' her sexuality. I was so inspired when she shared her sweet, sexy note book with me, and grateful that she'll share some of her reflections, photos and drawings with you...
Dani was wonderful to work with, because she so deeply engaged herself in the entire adventure and thus, realized she didn't need 'sexy attire', masks or otherwise, to feel liberated in her sexual, sensual self. Naked she felt the most powerful - and sacred. Something for all of us to consider as we stretch toward authenticity and truth in ourselves, our lives and relations.
It all began with a corset. It was a Christmas gift that my boyfriend, soon to be husband, surprised me with one afternoon. I went to the shop and picked out the fabric, cut and style with a bit of pressure since it is often difficult for me to make decisions in general, let alone my very first and only corset! I absolutely loved my gift and thought that it deserved to be photographed, and yes well, I need to be in this photograph as well! Me in my corset! An outgoing and bold thought for a 23 year old student.
